The pain train rolls on

A coworker warned me today not to talk about the Patriots around another coworker. Her uncle, apparently, is a co-owner of the New England franchise. So that's why she's such a huge Pats fan while her normal Dallas husband is a Cowboys fan.

I always thought she was a bandwagon fan. Why else would a Dallas girl latch on to a 16-0 team?

It just goes to show that winners attract the attention.

You see, here in Dallas, the Cowboys loss is all anyone wants to talk about. And the 'Boys are supposed to be America's team. But on the national media, it's the Pats that everyone's talking about. They're pretty much the greatest team in the history of football and the loss of the Colts goes a long way to guaranteeing them that monicker come Super Bowl time.

As a Dallas fan, I should be the one that cannot have my team brought up in conversation. My team was poised to win its first playoff game in 11 years and go to the Super Bowl for the first time in 12. There's no need to be sensitive around a fan of a team that doesn't lose. Nothing should bother that person. No matter that her team got caught cheating to start the season. Nothing can get to a Pats fan these days.

All the more reason to hate New England.
